Unable to swim and uses swim aids

This would benefit individuals who are unable to swim independently and require the assistance of a flotation device. The equipment requirements for individuals to take part in this class are a Sponge / foam noodle and a swim cap.

Clients will be taught how to:

  • Float as soon as possible without a flotation device
  • Gain water confidence
  • Open eyes underwater without fear
  • Promote social interaction between peers.

Removing floating aids

This would benefit individuals that are able to float in the water and maintain themselves for a short period of time without requiring assistance.

The equipment requirements for individuals to take part in this class is a board, goggles and a swim cap.

Clients will be taught:

  • Kicking of the 3 (Front crawl, breaststroke and backstroke) strokes
  • Basic arm motions of the 3 main (Front crawl, breaststroke and backstroke) strokes
  • How to breathe properly in individual strokes
  • To remain floating for long periods of time without tiring quickly

Basic swimming

 

This would benefit individuals that are able to float and carry out the basics of the three main strokes. It will be a session based on technique improvement.

The equipment required for individuals to take part in this class is a board, goggles and a swim cap.

Clients will be taught:

  • Front Crawl / Backstroke / Breaststroke
  • Arm motion
  • Leg motion
  • Breathing patterns and correct positioning
  • Introduction to butterfly

Session Notes:

  • Session duration is 30/45 Minutes.
  • Pre-Booking is strictly a must.
  • Use of Swimming Cap is strictly a must.

CHARM

My name is Carmelita but I prefer to be called ‘Charm’. I am from the Philippines and speak very fluent English. In 2012, I graduated as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology however I have been a swimming instructor as from 2008 till present teaching in the Philippines, Qatar and in Malta. I have attended various swimming courses to better develop my skills as an instructor especially for when working with children. I tend to have a very positive attitude towards teaching as I strive to inspire confidence and motivation.

NIKOLA

My name is Nikola. I am from Serbia and speak very fluent English. I graduated from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Pristina and then proceeded to be become a Professor of Physical Education. I have been an athlete from childhood. I was a professional water polo player from 2002 in Water Polo Club “Nis ” from Nis and also a water polo player with Croatian water polo club “Medvescak ” from Zagreb. I also worked as a coach in a women’s water polo club and then proceeded as an instructor in a swimming & water polo school “Waves” in Dubai UAE.

EMILY

I am Emily Scerri, a qualified swimming coach with the Aquatic Sport Association Malta and qualified in Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sports, Exercise and Health. Sports especially swimming has always been an important aspect in my life and a passion, which led me to purse it as a job. I have now been coaching swimming for 10 years. My experience has helped me to fulfill my role as a coach by helping, guiding and coaching individuals coming from different age groups and abilities to help them reach their goals and enjoy the sport of swimming.  

LEAH

I am currently in my second year of my bachelors degree in Health and social care management. I used to be a competitive swimmer for 8 years, and I have also competed internationally numerous times. I am 2019 national open water champion, and Malta-Gozo-Malta overall winner. I currently coach children from various fields, where I hope to gain more knowledge and experience

ABIGAIL

My name is Abigail and I am a certified swimming instructor by Swim England and also by the local Aquatic Sport Association. I have trained swimming since I was 6 years old which lead to passionately pursuing my dream sport to my dream job. I have been a swimming instructor for the past 7 years where I have fulfilled my role by teaching others and transferring my knowledge.

DEJAN

Hi my name is Dejan. I am a qualified swimming instructor and waterpolo coach. I have experience within the field across different countries in Europe. Locally I have been involved with Maltese waterpolo National Team and a local waterpolo club as a Head Coach. I am fluent in English and Serbian, and have operational/basic knowledge of Maltese, Italian and French.
